Multi-Objective Evaluation Model of Single-Lane Roundabouts

چکیده
Mobility, safety, and environmental sustainability are priorities in the geometric design of roundabouts. This paper presents a multi-objective optimization model that determines elements single-lane roundabouts using all three objectives. The user can specify weights for objectives, or determine optimal weights. Mobility is defined terms roundabout delay modeled United Kingdom empirical model. Safety collision frequency based on methodology Highway Manual. Environmental represented by vehicle emissions (nitrogen oxides, hydrocarbons, carbon dioxide, monoxide) vehicle-specific power methodology. proposed directly identifies dimensions (decision variables) roundabout, including entry width, exit approach half-width, circulatory effective flare length, radius, angle, inscribed circle diameter. input data to include traffic data, site conditions, limitations guidelines. Application illustrated two actual comparison results show provides substantial improvements mobility, compared with existing conditions. In addition, requires much less effort apply traditional iterative method, as such should be interest highway designers.

Investigation on entry capacities of single-lane roundabouts
Bothheavy goods vehicles (HGV) and exiting vehicles can significantly affect the entry capacity of a roundabout. However, their effects have not been taken into account in HCM 2000 model.Recently two studies have been carried out to address this issue: 1) Dahl and Lee (2012) proposed an expectation theory based approachto incorporate the effect of HGVs [1]; and2)Qu et al. (2013) deriveda new ro...

This paper proposes Multi-stream Minimum Acceptable Space (MMAS) Cellular Automata (CA) models to study unsignalised multi-lane (twoor three-lane) urban roundabouts. Through detailed space considerations, using Cellular Automata (CA) and the Multi-stream Minimum Acceptable Space method, heterogeneity and inconsistency of driver behavior and interactions in cross traffic at entrances of roundabo...
متن کاملMulti-lane Roundabout Capacity Evaluation
Although two-lane roundabouts theoretically exhibit excellent operating performance, in practice, safety problems arise because of inappropriate driving behavior. Turbo roundabouts, which are characterized by a much higher level of safety, are alternatives to classic two-lane roundabouts, but the capacity-related benefits derived from such roundabouts remain an open issue. Accordingly, this stu...

Most cities around the world are in danger of disasters. Among disasters, the earthquake is the most dangerous and ruining one. Iran has been located in the Alpine-Himalayas seismic belt, and because of the significant frequency of severe earthquakes happening all over the country compare to other countries and the state of the unsecured residential and non-residential buildings in most of the ...
متن کاملSigning and Pavement-Marking Strategies for Multi-Lane Roundabouts: An Informal Investigation
Kinzel 2 Fig 1. " Standard " two-lane roundabout and key terms Abstract. Multi-lane roundabouts present motorists with a complex set of decisions. Unlike single-lane roundabouts, for which the only rule on entry is " yield to the driver on your left, then circulate to your right " , multi-lane roundabouts also require decisions about lane positioning – and these decisions are necessary at multi...
